STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Revved Up Kids will hold two self-defense classes for children on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Stone Mountain.

Allison Neal, co-founder of Revved Up Kids, said the first of two classes is designed for boys and girls as young as 6 years old.

"We teach those children about predators and about who predators are and how to recognize, avoid and escape a predator," Neal said.

For older girls, Neal teaches a different class called "Just Yell Fire." It's based on a video developed by Dallas Jessup, a Vanderbilt University student who travels the country teaching getaway strategies to teenagers.

"You're not gonna learn to twist the arm and break the finger," Neal said. "We didn't do that. This is eyes, ears, groin. Those are the targets. Here's the simple ways to hurt them badly."

The Revved Up Kids class for younger children will take place this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mountain Park Aquatic Center in Stone Mountain.

The class for teenage girls runs from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
