Michele earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Canisius College located in Buffalo New York. She had a dual major in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Her first job after graduation was working in Lackawanna New York at Father Baker’s, a non-profit charitable organization. Services provided strived to help clients gain the highest possible quality of life and personal achievement by working in collaboration with children, adults, their families and the community through a diverse array of social, health and human services. Michele’s second degree earned is a Diploma of Nursing from Huron Hospital School of Nursing. She has over15 years of nursing experience working in the Emergency Department. Michele is also a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) who has completed specialized education and clinical preparation in the medical forensic care of the patient who has experienced sexual assault or abuse. She was the Assistant Nurse Manger of Huron Hospital Emergency Department for the past 10 years until it closed in August of 2011. She transitioned over to the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Health Center located in East Cleveland Ohio in her current role as Clinical Coordinator of the Navigation Center. The focus of the Center is to help eliminate barriers a patient may encounter through the complex healthcare system by assessing, engaging, and coordinating each individual’s medical, social service, and financial needs and linking them to the appropriate resources. Michele has also been very involved working in collaboration with the ECNC Youth Diversion Program providing educational and extra curricular activities for the adolescents involved in the program. She sits on the Bridges of Hope Coalition in East Cleveland and has been very involved in organizing the annual Teen Summit for East Cleveland. She is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, The International Forensic Nurses Association and the American Trauma Society. She has received several awards for her work with adolescents including; Crain’s Business Health Care Hero of the Year and Northern Ohio Health Care Provider of Year for Trauma Excellence award. She also received recognition from The American Red Cross for Health Care Hero and the Ohio Hospital Association Albert E. Dykes Health Care Worker of the Year for her involvement with adolescents in the community.
Michele completed her Just Yell Fire Training in San Diego in March of 2010.
